Anna Woodward’s exceptional paintings are inspired by the Renaissance period paintings depicting Greek mythology.  She takes these monumental paintings as a starting point to represent the drama within the stories via dynamic compositions and rich colours.  Creating digital collages on Photoshop to break down the classical structure and figuration, Woodward creates contrasts between scale, composition, figuration and abstraction.  Her paintings undulate and envelop the viewer, breaking down the barriers between the decorative and fine arts.  Layers of acrylic, oil and gouache are deftly applied giving the paintings a multi-dimensional feel.  Having only graduated from City and Guilds of London Art School in 2020, Woodward's confident handling of paint and mesmerising scenes position her as an outstanding talent of her generation.
